The Wellness Plans

The WordPress navigation carried a menu branch with the plain name wellness-2, and beneath it a small catalogue: a wellness plans overview, a dog plan, a cat plan, a puppy package and a kitten package. Five pages for prepaid preventive care, filed in the menu with the same rank as surgery and boarding.

What the dossier keeps

The plan pages are organised by species and life stage, which is the practice's own bookkeeping made visible. Dog plan and cat plan cover the adults; puppy package and kitten package cover the first year, when a new patient needs vaccines, deworming and an exam schedule dense enough to make a bundle worth selling. The overview page sits above them all, the cover sheet of the catalogue.

The address itself carries a trace of the site's history: wellness-2 is the kind of slug a menu earns when a first wellness page already existed. The file reads the numeral as the record of a revision, the practice's second pass at packaging preventive care, kept in the URL even after the page it replaced was gone.

Why a hospital sells plans

A wellness plan page is where a practice turns episodic visits into a standing arrangement: exams, vaccines, screening work and dental checks spread across a monthly fee. For the client it smooths the bill; for the practice it keeps the appointment book full in the quiet months. The menu placing the whole bundle beside the clinical services, rather than under a billing page, is the practice's own statement that preventive care was a service, not a payment option.

The neighbours in the branch

The wellness branch sits in the record beside physical exam and senior care, the medical menu's bookends of a pet's life. Read together, the three describe a practice thinking in life stages: the package for the first year, the exam for the middle, the senior page for the last. The file keeps the grouping the way the menu did, because the grouping is the finding.

The ancestor in the old drawer

The plans had a forerunner in the VetHost build: a page titled what to expect, filed beside the new patient center in the original c_1895 series. Where the plans sell a schedule, what to expect explained one, the page that told a first-time client how a visit at this practice would run. The file reads the two as the same idea at two stages, first the visit described, then the visit sold as a package.

The puppy and kitten packages close the loop. A new-patient page pairs naturally with a new-pet package, and the record kept both ends of the funnel: the page that reassured the client and the plan that scheduled the patient's first year. Shelf by shelf, the site kept rebuilding the same promise under better labels.

How the file reads it

Plan pages are the least glamorous leaves in a site and the most revealing. They show a practice that wanted clients on a schedule, not just in the door. The record kept all five pages' addresses; the file keeps the catalogue intact, a wellness menu inside the menu.

The file closes the plans where the record leaves them: five pages deep under one numeralled branch, organised the way the practice organised its patients, by species and by year of life. The fees themselves are outside the captures; the schedule the practice wanted is not.
